Programs of Study

Bachelor of Arts Bible
Bachelor of Science in Bible Exposition and Theology

Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies and Intercultural Studies

B.A. & B.S. Overview

Coursework in both biblical and theological studies is central to the Mount Sinai College curriculum. Upon completion of one of these majors, it is intended that the student will be well acquainted with biblical content and have a grasp of the major theology of the Word of God, leading to greater spiritual maturity. The flexibility of electives within this major will enable the student to design a program in line with his/her ministry objectives.

The mission of our degree programs in Biblical or Theological Studies is to provide the student with a foundational knowledge of the history, literature, culture, languages and theology of the First and New Covenants, of systematic and historical theology, and of methods for further Biblical and theological studies, thus equipping men and women in mind and character to impact the world for Messiah Yeshua. Both degrees carry a minor in Jewish Studies.

The minor in Jewish Studies is designed to exist alongside the B.A. or B.S. in Bible and Theology. The Bible and Theology deal deal primarily with languages and scripture study, and history as the necessary background. The minor in Jewish Studies also includes an element of language study, but its primary focus is on the history, and culture of the Jews from B'resheet (Genesis) to 350 C.E.

Goal
The purpose of our Bachelor programs is achieved by enabling students to:

• Explain and summarize the Bible, including a comprehensive understanding of the major books;

• Defend a theological position based on a grammatical-historical hermeneutic and apply them to contemporary issues;

• Present an increasing likeness to Christ as manifested in love for God, love for others, and the fruit of the Spirit.

  1. Be able to understand and apply God's written word to the development of a distinctly Biblical worldview that is lived out in daily life and ministry.
  2. Have a growing personal knowledge in light of biblical study, resulting in an increasingly intimate knowledge of and relationship with the Messiah Yeshua.
  3. Have a world view shaped by biblical study and a sense of historical location within the body by which to evaluate current trends in the world and in the community of God. This world view should grow and develop in conjunction with continuing biblical, historical, and theological study.
  4. Be able to research and interpret the meaning of a passage according to its context, taking into consideration:
    1. Its historical and cultural context as determined through archaeological, historical, and cultural (including linguistic) research.
    2. Its broader biblical context as determined through comparison with the content and themes of related biblical books.
    3. Its theological context as determined through comparison with systematic theology (which is derived from the biblical text).
