College ExaminationsThe American Council on Education (ACE) recommends college credit for all of the following credit-by-examination programs as well as many others (visit the ACE examination web site). Students who are interested in earning credit through the credits by examination programs listed below should contact their academic or program advisor before taking an examination to ensure it will be accepted for their program of study. Credits earned through these examination programs are treated as transfer credit and do not affect a student's grade point average. College Board Advanced Placement ExaminationsAdvanced Placement (AP) examinations of the College Board may be used for advanced placement. Specific college course credits will be granted for scores of three, four, or five on the Advanced Placement (AP) examinations. You must have official AP score reports forwarded from ETS to Mount Sinai College. Mount Sinai College does not charge students for transferring these credits. Contact the Academic Advising Office for procedures required to initiate an evaluation of transfer credit. CLEP® College Credit by ExaminationThe CLEP of the College Board is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the United States today. CLEP is a national testing program that provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of more than 30 examinations in undergraduate college courses. Mount Sinai College recognizes these examinations for transfer credit. Mount Sinai College does not charge students for transferring these credits. Students who are interested in CLEP exams should contact an academic advisor and refer to the Mount Sinai College Prior Learning Assessment Guide for further information. DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs)DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) is an extensive series of examinations in college subjects that are comparable to the final or end-of-course examinations in undergraduate courses. A student may earn up to 3 semester hours of credit per test. Students who are interested in DSST examinations should contact an academic advisor and refer to the Mount Sinai College Prior Learning Assessment Guide for further information. Mount Sinai College does not charge students for transferring these credits. Information about DSST Test preparation and study guides can also be found at DANTES web site. Mount Sinai College ExaminationsMount Sinai College recognizes Mount Sinai College Examinations (MSCE) for credit. Mount Sinai College has 40 examinations in the Bible, Languages, and other related areas. MSC does not charge students for transferring these credits. Students who are interested in MSCE should contact their academic advisor and refer to the MSC Prior Learning Assessment Guide for Students for further information.
