About Mount Sinai College

The college was stated by a group of Christians who wanted a way for anyone who wanted to study the bible for personal growth or to enter ministry could get a solid academic education in the scriptures, so this group that was made up of professors, pastors and business leaders put to gather a course of study based on academic standards and formed the college. Everyone volunteered their time to give the class lectures and offered them for free at their individual churches to anyone who was serious about studying the word of God and later these courses where formalized to degree programs and the online college was formed. It as grown in the last 10 years to an academic course of study that is equal to any college, and a faculty equal to any college faculty, our faculty is spread across the world linked via the web. Each teacher develops their own syllabus and records their lectures; many are on the faculty of some of the top universities in the world but volunteer teaching a class here. The number of course and degrees has vastly expanded and although now we ask for a small tuition to provide funds to cover the cost of the running the computer campus, no student of turned down for financial reasons. Do to the size and nature of the college we can only take in a small number of students each semester, it still is all about the highest quality course of study and small study groups with one-on-one interaction with the instructor and other classmates. And now that we have graduated over one thousand students the word is out and we receive ten applications for every opening and cannot except every applicant, this why we screen for only the most serious of students.

PURPOSE

Our goal it to:

  1. Teach the scriptures in both their original languages and culture, interrupted though the lens of the Gospel.
  2. We teach our students how to incorporate the word into their lives, to live out the word, and to increase there knowledge and understanding of God and His story with man, His mission on earth.
  3. We teach our students to contextualize the scriptures, and the gospel into the culture that they are in, not to change the word to fit the culture but rather to apply, explain the word in the language and culture of the people that they might understand it. We teach how to translate the Gospel into a new context in a way that is faithful to its origin

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE. We believe that students need to be confronted with dynamic, biblical teaching that has balance, depth, and integrity.

SPIRITUAL DYNAMICS. We believe that for people to grow spiritually, there has to be an environment for growth that will impact their lives, both in their relationship with the Lord and with other people.

We created two core disciplines of study. They are:

Theology and Cultural Engagement
Within this discipline students will study philosophy, culture, theology and church history. Church History will be taught covering the first 100 years, covering what it was to be and what it was to be according to Jesus. And how it was built by, and ran by the disciples Together students will study the life of Christ and the early church centering on the Scriptural, functional and purpose of the church.

The Bible and Textual Interpretation
Within this discipline students will continue to be challenged with a relational hermeneutic through the lens of the Gospel, which is the hallmark of the institution. The word is taught form the languages in which the bible was recorded and will be taught in a way that gives students a true understanding of the word of God, hearing it as it was given to enable them comprehend the full meaning of it. They will be immersed in a macro-history of the Bible and develop skills in communicating the Biblical narrative in their own words within the context of the history of the text. They will study the basics of Greek and Hebrew as they become proficient in reading and understanding the written word not halving to rely on someone else’s interpretation of the word. In this discipline students will be able to apply textual and hermeneutical methodologies and translate the Biblical text for them selves.
